FAQ - PROTEQU Server machine

The server parameters varies project to project, as each customer runs different number of devices. Also the nature of devices, which shall be managed by PROTEQU SW solution is different at each customer. Each device or system communicates via its own protocol, exchanging certain amount of information with the master server app. per second. The amount of exchanged data for ,devices which only monitor or control (Intrusion or Fire detection systems) is considerably lower than amount of data exchanged with access control devices devices as these operate thousands of users, their credentials and time plans in addition to monitor and control functions.

So the design of your PROTEQU server always depends on several parameters:
- the scope of your installed systems ... type and number of connected devices
- number of concurrently connected system operators
- presence of CCTV monitoring and number of managed cameras
- number of managed users and their credentials

There are typical server requirements for mid size and large installation shown on the left. But we always recommend to consult the exact server configuration with our support team, specially at the larger projects with hundreds of devices and thousands of users.

The number of devices, managed, monitored and operated by PROETQU solution is unlimited.
The same applies for all managed of users, their credentials and time plans.
One server can serves approximately up to 5.000 devices (control panels, controllers, NVRs etc....)

But worry not, in case your installation extends over 5.000 devices, PROTEQU offers perfectly scalable, modular solution consisting of more servers in a blockchain network configuration. The load balance principle applied, allows for seamless distribution of heavy data traffic and load between more applied servers, which can even be physically installed at a different locations. Virtually there is no limit to number of connected devices, managed users or simultaneously working operators.  

The number of operators who are logged in to the PROTEQU solution is neither licensed nor limited in any way. Feel free to give the privilege access to any operator inside your organization. Just be careful what permissions and rights you assign to your operators, so that they only can see, control and manage relevant devices, users and use features, relevant for their role.  

Definitively Yes. PROEQU supports countless commercially known and available virtual environments like VM Ware, MS Hyper-V, Citrix Hypervisor, KVM, Proxmox VE and many others.  

Yes, of course. There is an internal back up utility provided within the RPOTEQU package. The regular back up schedule may be set or one off back up can be taken. Also you can conveniently back up your DB using native Postgres tools Back up is strongly recommended as your DB contains all events and configuration of all your devices as well as all users data, their credentials, their time plans, access rights and permissions. 

Yes, This is very individual. PROTEQU solution features the built of balancer technology. So you will need less servers to manage large number of devices, compared to other PSIM solutions where you need another server once you exceed certain number of devices. PROTEQU allows deep effective interoperability of more servers, interconnected together via blockchain configuration into a one logical system: This principle allows them to share the data and process loads, optimizing the use and performance of each server machine processor power and RAM memory. The number of servers is configured based on number of devices and mainly by load of transmitted data in peak times.
